Nathan Fillion is "Castle" |
Lead | ||
|
Nathan's new show "Castle" premieres Monday, March 9 at 10pm Eastern/Pacific on ABC. If you've been watching anything on ABC I'm sure
you've seen the promos. They've been running frequently during Lost. Nate plays a popular writer of mystery novels who has an encounter with a female
detective (Stana Katic, whom he is attracted to) when a murder suspect begins using methods Castle has written about in his books.

I'm sure Nathan can make it watchable for a while at least. But I fear it will turn into yet another procedural in which I will lose interest, but become
enormously popular and run for eight or nine years.

I'm torn. Um... I mean, I do want to check this out, but I'm not sure how much I'll like it. What I'm torn about is the idea of it running that
long... I think good actors like Fillion deserve success, but I resent the fact that they can't be successful in something I like.

It would be nice if Nathan gets popular enough that some producer says, "Hey, remember that little show you did years ago, Firefly? Ever thought about
doing more of that?"

I like procedural shows, so even if it goes that way, I'm okay. I just think he's fun to watch so I'm willing to overlook some flaws in the show
just to get to see him. If only he'd break into song.....

I love Nathan Fillion butttttttttttttttt... the show looked annoyingly familar. A smart-ass (fill-in-the-blank) is put together with a street-wise cop and
since they have fame, fortune or friends in high places, tests said cop again and again. I hope for the best but I just don't want to be another
cookie-cutter show...

my review, which of course will be updated in the future, unless I decide to
just stop watching the show. I like it reasonably well so far, but it doesn't necessarily seem like something that will hold my interest. We'll see.

The only reason I will continue to watch this for a while is Nathan. I suffered through a season of Desperate Housewives just to catch his few scenes, I guess
I can do the same when he is the lead. I just hope it doesn't turn out to be as predictable as it is likely to be.

I'm not sure if this is good news or not, but according to TVShowsOnDVD.com, ABC/Disney has already announced that the complete first season of Castle will be released on DVD September 22.

Hmmmm, I actually liked this show. I enjoyed the real current bestselling mystery writers at the card game and later, the chase with only one shoe. I'll
watch it unless the quality goes down...

I liked it....I agree with the LA Times that Fillion is "not a vest wearer"...aka: He's rather manly....

Here's a great interview with Nathan at IGN.com. It is great to know he still
loves Firefly and his part in it.

Always nice to see Jayne Brook. And George Newbern. I like the song "So What," but I didn't really see the point in it at the beginning, almost
seemed crass on top of pointless... but later in the ep I got it, and appreciated it, of course. Um... as for Castle himself, mostly I think he's amusing,
though sometimes he can be annoying. I continue to love his daughter... And the plot is twisty enough to be interesting.

He was on Good Morning America Friday and joked about never having had a second season before.
I will say that NBC has made a lot of these 10pm decisions easier for me...the other networks are going to have to put some utter crap up there in the 10pm slot to make me go Leno.... |

Two good reasons to continue watching Castle.
1. You don't have to worry about it being canceled mid-season. ABC has picked it up for the full year. 2. Captain Tightpants returns. Nathan wears a certain brown coat and suspenders as a Halloween costume next week. |

The main reason I watch this show is Alexis. But Fillion's good too, and if he dresses as Mal for Halloween, that'll be awesome.

This episode demanded that I make a new siggy... (although I do wonder why, if she remembers him wearing it 5 years ago, she had to ask what he was supposed to
be.)
Oh, also, I liked the musical riff they played. Not quite "Ballad of Serenity," but unmistakably reminiscent.
