For anyone who has not seen Dead Like Me, a Showtime original dramedy from 2003-2004, please note that it was the creation of Bryan Fuller, creator of this year's Pushing Daisies and co-creator of Wonderfalls. If you like those two you should like DLM, even though Fuller left the show during its first season due to creative differences with Showtime, and that is when he began work on Wonderfalls. LOST, Season 5 - Wednesday, January 21

ABC has announced that Lost returns on Wednesday, January 21. It will occupy all three
prime time hours that evening, with their typical recap show kicking off the night, followed by the first two new episodes. On subsequent weeks it will air at
9pm Eastern/Pacific, 8pm Central/Mountain. This will be the fifth time they have changed its night or time, and the second time it has occupied this particular
slot.

He died yesterday after a battle with cancer, which he had kept fairly private.

I would never say that he was a great prose writer, but he was certainly adept had developing plots and characters into very exciting narratives. A lot of his work has been adapted to screen of course, beginning with The Andromeda Strain in 1971, and anyone who has read any of his books would probably say he was a very visually oriented writer. He also directed seven films during his long career.

For anyone who has been watching and enjoying "Life" on NBC, please note that it will be moving to Wednesday night, 9pm Eastern/Pacific on Nov. 5.

I'm not sure if it will be on this coming Friday at 10 as it had been or if it will not be on at all this week. Even though they have had a feature story
about it, tvguide has not changed their listings yet and still show it on the Friday schedule...

Chuck, Season 2

I thought I had already started a thread on this one, but I guess it was just the comments I've made about it in the general 2008 TV thread that I was thinking of.

Anyway, Chuck was my second favorite new show last year after Pushing Daisies, and I still have that same opinion this year. There have been four episodes so far, and each one has been just as much fun as last year.

I think it is a testament to how well the regular cast works together that even last...

Still months away, but had to announced that Sci-Fi has marked Friday, January 16 as the return date for the concluding episodes of BSG. It will air at 10pm Eastern, and no doubt repeated multiple times during the following week.

Underrated UK writer Barrington John Bayley died a couple of days ago at the age of 71. I've read four or five of his novels, and perhaps a short story or two. I would say his style was like a mixture of Philip K. Dick and J. G. Ballard, with a bit of Elmore Leonard thrown in. He might have been more popular if the majority of his tales didn't end on such a down note.

Life on Mars - new ABC version

Did anyone else catch this Thursday night, and should I bother with it or just delete it off the dvr? I still would rather finish watching the original British version first, and I might get around to it this week, but have only seen the first four eps so far.

A couple of other boards I visit had some very negative comments about it, but a few of them are from people I don't always agree with.

I have read that the producers asked to be allowed to change the mythology...

Yesterday, when I filled up my work truck I paid $2.899 per gallon of regular unleaded. This morning, at the same station, I filled up my personal vehicle for just $2.859 per, prior to heading to Austin to pick up Alex at the airport. I never thought there would come a day when I thought that was a very good price for gas.

Well, a series about cryptozoology. Which, coincidentally, premiered on the same night as a new series on Cartoon Network about cryptozoology. Um... everything tonight on both channels seems to be... cut short by my DVR. I dunno if its clock is off or if the networks' clocks are off. The last thing I heard at the end of this show was Helen saying "Shall we begin?" I suppose nothing substantive is likely to have been said or done after that. Anyway, so far it seems interesting...

The great actor and humanitarian died yesterday evening after a battle with cancer. He was 83. I doubt if you could find anyone else in Hollywood as respected and admired as Newman, unless of course it was his wife of 50 years, Joanne Woodward. He is and always will be a true Hollywood icon, and there will likely never be another like him. He will be missed.

I think I may have mentioned the Amazon.com Unbox service before. It's a video download similar to iTunes. It's been around for at least a year, since I know I watched some of the pilot episodes of last season's shows that way. They've recently started Video on Demand, which allows you to watch select tv shows and movies in streaming form on their website, but you can also download them to a Tivo or to your PC to view later. Too many weird things going on tonight for me to decide if it was any good, or maybe if it was just the writers throwing so many things into the pot to see what might work.

One thing I kept thinking was similar to what I felt at the beginning of Season Two. If none of the major players is ever in danger of dying or if any possible future is changeable, then how can we really feel there is any peril at all?
